A low-grade monsoon pattern will exist for Arizona this week, resulting in thunderstorms favoring the higher terrain in east-central and southeastern Arizona. Over the next few days, the Valley will mainly only get some leftover breezes from distant thunderstorms in the evenings/nights. However, storm chances do look to increase later in the week. As for temperatures, the week will be front-loaded with hotter than normal temperatures (>105°F), then ending with near-normal temperatures (low 100s).

Air quality-wise, ozone is forecast at most in the Moderate AQI category for now, with lowest levels expected by the weekend. But, we'll watch for any changes in daily ozone trends.

PM10 (dust) and PM2.5 (smoke) will remain mostly locally driven, with elevated levels possible in the mornings in/around typical active areas (i.e. industrial areas south/southwest of the Phoenix metro area).

We also can't rule out brief dust in the evenings/nights because of breezes from distant thunderstorms. But, we'll watch for any greater dust potential later in the week.
